CONVERSATION CIRCLE and ART WORKSHOP

Venue: Neighbour Terrace, Keshavadasapuram, Trivandrum

On 10^th August 2025, a conversation circle and zine workshop was conducted in collaboration with (an organisation for LGBTQAI+ people, seeks universal access to rights, health, legal, and social services) and Sahayatrika (an organization supporting AFAB queer community of Kerala) at Neighbour Terrace, Trivandrum.

In this workshop, we welcomed all AFAB individuals and queer individuals who find the subjects of healthcare and public toilets relevant and resonating with their lived realities. Participants were free to share any other personal experiences on the subject of gender, society, and public space. Speaking wasn’t mandatory, and other forms of expression, such as drawing or writing, were encouraged.

A mental health professional was present at the event to help us navigate complex emotions.

The 17 participants were then introduced to the methods of folding and making a zine, which they proceeded to compile with cut-up texts, images, writings, embroidery, and sketches. The zine, being a medium of resistance and a space for personal expression of underrepresented experiences, remained an effective method of channeling emotions and reclaiming experiences in one’s own way of expression.
